befriending winter vol. 1

While so many people were moaning about the "crappy" winter of December, which is the best kind of winter if you ask me, I had a broad smile on my face. Now it is my time to moan. I have never been a proper winter person, it is too cold, snow is rarely like on the old-school paintings, and in the recent years our winter has really overstayed its welcome. However, I can appreciate winter and maybe even befriend it.
While we are just freezing under fantastic skies -

without any serious snow -

but on the plus side, without this -

there is time for me to find new ways of befriending this season. Shall we be friends, winter?

31...

So, this day came and went by, as all the other frosty January days. When every breath tingles and sunbeams cut through the crisp and absolutely blue winter sky. Then the evening rolls around and suddenly you are 31. Just like that. I don't even know if I managed to get used to 30, you know, the big three-oooh-nooo. And let me tell you, it is not what they say it will be. It is much more liberating, scary, breathtaking and mundane than any women's magazine can describe, and yet - it is only a number. Which is supposed to make it less significant - oh, darling, it is just a number - but in our structured, number driven life, numbers do matter. To an extent. Numbers should help our life, not overtake it. Anyway, until next January, I am stuck with 31, a beautiful number that brings the right amount of structure and hopefully will become a trusty companion in all my great adventures of this year.

between obligation and dignity

One of my "new years resolutions" is to focus on the dignified relationships.

The dignity of  mutual inspiration, kindness and curiosity. Mostly applies to the relationships I have with the different people who are all me. And this small corner of the www that is mine. Although I agree with Eddie Izzard - there is such a thing as the impossible (it is impossible to eat the Himalayas!), the possible reaches further and wider than we are brought up to believe. So I have big plans.

love...

Love
This is the day when I decided to bring some more love into my life. Even if it is blog lovin' kind of love.
